Religious & Cultural Values
For the most part, the majority of circumcisions are performed for religious reasons and the practice predominates mainly amongst Muslim and Jewish boys.
Male Circumcision in Islam
The practice of male circumcisions was already commonplace amongst the Arabs prior to the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was instructed by God in the Quran to follow the religion of Abraham (peace be upon him) and related that the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) circumcised himself when he was eighty years old. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explained that five things are akin to the ‘fitrah’ for a man and these include clipping or shaving of the pubic region and armpits, cutting one’s nails, trimming or shaving the moustache and being circumcised. No specific timing for circumcisions has been prescribed but the preference was for it to be done as soon as possible after birth. Indeed, the Prophet (PBUH) circumcised his grandsons, Hassan (RA) and Hussein (RA), on the 7th day after they were born.
This practice of the Prophet (PBUH) has been recorded in numerous Hadith related by both Bukhari and Muslim. It is generally agreed to be obligatory for all males, in keeping with the practices of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him).
At CircumcisionPRO these Muslim practices and beliefs are very close to heart and we take great satisfaction is being able to fulfil the Sunnah of our Prophet (PBUH).
African Male Circumcisions
Almost all groups in West Africa practice circumcision and this serves as a remnant of ancient initiation rites, particularly amongst cultural warrior schools that predominated amongst regions extending from Senegal to Kenya to South Africa. Following a traditional circumcision, young men would enjoy the benefits of becoming members of the ‘warrior class’ as well as being granted freedom to marry.
In Kenya, traditional circumcisions often involved the use of the same knife for many young men. This is thought to have contributed to the spread of HIV and its practice has now been curtailed. Amongst certain tribes, specifically the Kikuyu and Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania, male circumcisions served as the formal graduation at the end of education programs cultivating tribal beliefs and practices including religion and cultural heritage. Circumcision ceremonies were public affairs and involved significant courage on the part of young males to preserve the honour and prestige of their families. Although much of the associated pomp and ceremony is now rare, circumcisions are still considered an integral part of one’s personal identity and acceptance into society. There are national circumcision programs in place in Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia.
At Circumcision Pro, we appreciate the significance of male circumcisions in African culture and provide a quality service for males of all ages, ensuring their comfort throughout.
Male Circumcision in Judaism
The practice of circumcision in Judaism also stems back to the original practice of the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him). The Jewish belief is that he performed his own circumcision at the age of 99 years and subsequently also circumcised his son Ishmael, aged 13 years old, and all the males of the household. Circumcision served as a marker of identity and hence was prohibited by the enemies of the Jews throughout various phases in history including the two centuries of slavery in Egypt during the time of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). It is a common Jewish belief that the prophet Moses (peace be upon him), was himself subsequently not circumcised, but reinstated the practice following the emigration from Egypt. Indeed, following the rise of Christianity and St. Paul’s decree against the practice, circumcision became the distinguishing feature of Judaism.
In the Jewish faith, circumcisions are practised on the 8th day after birth, which is considered to be the time of the true birth of man and represents a new beginning or inauguration. This ceremony is carried out in accordance with well-defined rules and regulations consisting of the ‘periah’ and the ‘metzitzah’.
For many years many respected individuals within the Jewish community, and often members of the initiation society, have carried out circumcisions for young Jewish babies. However, more recently there has been a move towards a more medically accepted circumcision. At CircumcisionPRO, we are able to provide Jewish families with a circumcision service in keeping with ritual timing without compromising their safety or well-being.

Was sceptical at 1st but Dr Amin made the experience less strenuous. The 1st week is the most intense in terms of pain but after that it gets easy for anyone debating whether to get it done or not. Great service.Posted on Google![]()

Dr Amin and team, you are incredible!! I waited until my 14-year-old autistic son had fully healed before leaving this review, and I can honestly say that from start to finish, the whole process was a breeze. The hardest and most complicated part was actually taking the bandage off! My son was sedated by the anaesthetist alongside the lovely Katie, who was so nurturing and supportive. She had been supporting me from the week before because I was an absolute nervous wreck! On the day, my son was given a VR headset to distract him after having numbing cream applied. I was able to stay with him while he was sedated, which made such a difference. When he woke up in recovery, he actually asked me when he was going to have the operation — it had already been done! He didn't feel a thing. I gave him paracetamol on the day, but he told me he didn't feel any pain at all. Even now, he says he would recommend Dr Amin because "it didn't hurt." Dr Amin was fantastic. He talked me through all the different options and explained the pros and cons of each method. Having researched Dr Amin, I trusted his professional judgement about what would be best for my son, and I’m so glad I did. Removing the bandage took us a little longer than expected, which I think was because some of the glue was still stuck, but after soaking it, it soon came away. I used the aftercare service and was always responded to. I would say that after around a week we were in a really good place, and the remaining 3–4 weeks were simply further healing. Most importantly, my son is really happy with the outcome. I recommend Dr Amin and his team. Thank you so much to Katie and to your lovely colleague who quite literally held me through it! You made what I had been so nervous about feel incredibly manageable, particularly for an autistic young person who needed that extra care and understanding. It's a bit pricier than other places but you can't put a price on comfort for your child.Posted on Google![]()

We cannot thank Dr. Amin and his team at Circumcision Pro enough for the exceptional care they provided for our 14-year-old autistic son. From the start, they were incredibly accommodating of his needs. We chose the stapler method under IV sedation. The pre-op consultation was clear and educational, and the post-op care was top-tier—they answered all our questions during his recovery quickly and thoroughly. Matin had no bleeding, swelling, or infection, and his recovery was remarkably fast. Most staples fell out naturally within a week, and the remaining three came off easily with the recommended cream. He is now 100% recovered and doing great. If you have a child with extra sensory needs, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!Posted on Google![]()

After researching and reading many reviews and watching videos, we went with circumcision pro and I do not regret it one bit. The communication levels from right at the beginning were top tier. I had so many questions and all were answered prior to the appointment. This really helped with my anxiety as a Mother. The clinic is located in beautiful Canary Wharf, below residential homes. Parking was available on Lightermans Road and was pay by phone. We crossed the road and the clinic was straight ahead. Very easy to find on google maps. We allowed plenty of time for travel, traffic and to find parking. As well as allow us enough time to transfer baby into buggy and walk to the clinic. Front of house team were fantastic. Very professional and kind. We handed the necessary paperwork for the girls to upload to the system and was later given them back. Both parents will need to bring photo ID. Babies red book and birth certificate. I was EBF and a room was available to use - just ask Reception team and they will take you there. Only 2 people are allowed in the clinic room with the Dr & nurse. Everything about the procedure was explained to us fully, prior to appointment via videos and during the appointment. Clinic room was immaculate. Everything was in perfect order and super clean. Dr Chowdhury asked the necessary questions and also asked if we had any and then began with the procedure. Once anesthetic is administered to the area, the medical team will give you time to settle and cuddle the baby. Yes, baby will cry for a maximum of 2mins, but once settled they are quite fascinated by their environment and lights. Procedure took no longer than 15mins from start to finish. Nurse will assist Dr and hold your babies legs. Parents are not expected to support - age dependent. Both myself & Dad sat and watched. Baby did not cry during the procedure, but did kick quite a lot and still the Doctor did a fantastic clean job. Nappy was applied by Dr and we were taken to another room where we fed baby and settled him. After about 10/15mins, Nurse came to check on baby and us and we were informed it looked good and we could make a move home. Front desk staff then hand you a letter for the GP, prescription for antibiotic cream, and aftercare letter. We found the closest pharmacy and collected cream straight away. Ring fell off on day 6 and we was advised to stop using the cream/salt baths. Team are accessible on Whatsapp for support during hours. Again this eased us as parents. Following the ring falling off, we used plenty petroleum jelly as advised, so ensure you buy some in advance. The team were fantastic and Dr Shihab Chowdhury is an amazing Doctor with a fantastic medical career history. As a Mother of 2 boys, doing the circumcision early allowed it to heal super fast and by the time your child sees the GP at 8 weeks, a 2nd medical professional will be overlooking. The GP himself was very impressed with how it looked and well it healed. As Parents we cannot fault this clinic and will most definitely recommend it.Posted on Google![]()

The aftercare support was 10/10 with a response within business hours being very quick (There is always a 24/7 line if needed for emergencies). As first-time parents, my husband and I were extremely nervous about having our newborn circumcised. To be honest, I almost changed my mind because I’d heard some upsetting stories about other people’s experiences, and I was terrified something might go wrong. My husband came across Circumcision Pro through a TikTok post by a content creator, and after reading about them, we decided to put our trust in their team and go ahead with the procedure. I wish I could remember the surgeon’s name, but unfortunately I can’t. What I do remember is how wonderful he was, along with the nurse, Evert. They were both incredibly kind, patient and reassuring, making us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Our baby, who was just six weeks old, cried only a little during the procedure. Once we got home, he settled quickly, and by carefully following all the aftercare instructions, his wound healed beautifully. The night the Plastibell ring fell off was a little frightening for me as a first-time mum, but by the next morning he was completely calm, comfortable and back to his normal self. From start to finish, the customer service was outstanding. Every member of staff was professional, knowledgeable and approachable. Every question we asked was answered thoroughly, and they treated our baby with such gentle care and compassion. I wholeheartedly recommend Circumcision Pro to anyone considering a circumcision or any procedure they offer. Our experience exceeded all our expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to choose them again. Thank you for making what was such a frightening experience for us into one that was smooth, reassuring and positive.Posted on Google![]()
